(Para os leitores de português, este post no meu blog está somente em inglês.)
As I wrapped up my final semester in the online program at Brigham Young University-Idaho, I had some profound experiences during my internship at the Children's Advocacy Center of the South Plains in Lubbock, Texas.
The role of Children's Advocacy Centers, which are dispersed throughout the United States, is to "coordinate the investigation, treatment, and prosecution of child abuse cases" (U.S. Department of Justice Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, 2025).
As part of an assignment that I had at the conclusion of my internship to summarize what I learned and experienced there, I created a short presentation about the Children's Advocacy Center in Lubbock that I'd like to share here. If you are a student considering where you might do your internship, or if you are just looking to volunteer for a meaningful cause in your community, I can highly recommend Children's Advocacy Centers to you. And if you have suffered child abuse and/or neglect, or if you know a child who may be in that situation, please call 911 to report an emergency and contact Child Protective Services at 800-422-4453.
I hope you enjoy the presentation!
