Who I Am

Fort Collins Temple Family in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

Nature lover. Introvert. Incorrigible nerd. Amateur artist, singer, and guitar-picker. Fanatic for (Texas) barbeque, Blue Bell Ice Cream, and Reese's peanut butter cups.

My childhood was simple but unique: I was raised on a South Texas game and cattle ranch, homeschooled by my wonderful Mama, and shown how to be a man by my dear Papa. A few bad choices led me into despair and addiction in my teenage years while my parents grappled with the stress of job loss and financial burdens. But by the grace of God and the power of Christ's atoning sacrifice, I am healing from my spiritual wounds and striving to follow His plan for our happiness.

Beyond all labels and circumstances, I am a family man, a child of God, a disciple of Christ, and a part of His covenant people. Those identifiers convey who I am and what matters most to me. My family background and religious convictions do not make me better than anyone else, but they do give me a special responsibility to make the world a better place. My efforts to let my light shine are intended to be authentic, not preachy.

To any of my friends around the world who visit this blog, I thank you for your friendship and willingness to stay connected.  I hope that something I write here will be uplifting to you.  For me, the most uplifting force in the cosmos is a Person named Jesus.  I humbly bear witness that I know He lives. And choosing to follow Him has made all the difference in my life.
