My Journey in Studying and Defending the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ

I once received a prophecy from one of my Church leaders, known as a patriarch, that if I so desire I may become a scholar of the Gospel and of the history of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.  "OneLowerLight" is my expression of faith in that inspired prediction.  This webpage will host in-depth articles about Gospel-related topics, while the posts on my (public) Instagram page @OneLowerLight will be a bit narrower in scope.

The content associated with OneLowerLight is specifically directed to Latter-day Saints already familiar with our Church's core doctrines.  However, anyone is welcome to read this content and ask me questions if they desire to do so!  Feel free to email me at mwsailman@gmail.com.

The inspiration for the title "OneLowerLight," is found in the traditional hymn “Brightly Beams Our Father’s Mercy,” (LDS Hymns, no. 335):

Let the lower lights be burning, / Send the gleam across the waves!

Some poor sinking, struggling seaman / You may rescue, you may save!

I testify that Jesus is the true and great Light of the world.  I am merely one lower light.  My purpose and my joy in sharing Gospel scholarship is to point all who engage with this content towards Christ, if they so desire.  In all my writings here, I hope the Holy Spirit of the Lord will testify with me as I share my witness that Jesus lives, and that His works and words in all ages of history are worth studying.

May the Light attend your way!
