The Roles and Benefits of Family Life Education
Marriage, re-marriage, the birth of children, and family gatherings can be some of the most joyful times in our lives -- and they can also be some of the most stressful! Building peaceful and fulfilling relationships as our families change, expand, and gather is no small feat. Unfortunately, sometimes we and our family members can face these situations without knowing how to cope effectively with stress. We may also lack the interpersonal skills and behavioral patterns needed to build healthy relationships and resolve conflicts with family members.
And sadly, not everyone who faces these challenges can access or afford family counseling -- nor may their situation rise to the level of severity that would justify meeting with a therapist.
These are exactly the kind of scenarios where family life education can be a great benefit -- especially when it's free!
Our FREE Online Course
To help address the need for effective family life education in our communities, I and Kara Heugly, a colleague of mine at Brigham Young University-Idaho, launched a free course entitled Creating Harmony: Stress Management and Conflict Resolution for Thriving Families.
As of today (12 December 2024), we have published all the lessons of the course (in English only) and they will remain publicly available here at this webpage. You can download the presentations for all the lessons at the links listed below. Each lesson is expected to take approximately a half-hour to finish, including all videos and homework assignments included. After December 31st, 2024, the links for the surveys found in the presentations will no longer accept new submissions.
We hope you find value in this information! If you have any questions or if the links to the presentations on this page do not work for you, email me at mwsailman@gmail.com and I will be glad to help you access the course.
Thank you for participating!
